About NHC Language Tests of English

Evaluating and Endorsing Language Skills

NHC Language Tests of English are international English language exams for speakers of English as a foreign language. They come in six levels compatible with The Common European Framework for Language Reference (CEFR). The alignment of Notting Hill College Stage Exam to the CEFR has been established by mapping the test specifications to the CEFR descriptors. Work is in progress to further improve the robustness of the alignment on the basis of empirical data.

Who are these Tests for?

Notting Hill College Language Tests of English assess and accredit the English Language usage of students who are speakers of other languages.
Our qualifications can meet the differing needs of all students, from those who want to learn English to help with employments, to those wishing to enrich their overseas vacation or who simply enjoy the culture and language of other countries.

Progress through the levels

The examination is offered at six different levels to enable candidates to enter at a stage that suits them and rise through the series as their English language skills improve.

Benchmark of language ability

The six levels of Notting Hill College are mapped to the common European Framework Reference for Language (CEFR). The Framework was developed by the Council of Europe to enable language learners, teachers, universities and potential employers to compare and relate language qualification by level.

International recognition

Levels 4 and 5 of the NHC Tests of English are accepted by a variety of international companies.
